Lets give a chance to the disabled

Mukasa Lutwama Tom

On many occasions, disabled students find a lot of challenges during their academic times and period. This is most common to those who have a physical disability, which in one way or the other forces most of them to leave books to those who are not disabled.

Disabled children face so many challenges, but we can make their lives easier

With my personal experience, if it was not the effort of my mother, I would not have been where iam today with my academics. This is because of the various challenges I faced and some of them are; being isolated by my fellow classmates as they thought I was not meant to be with them especially during my primary level, being accused and abused of my lameness, and then failure and finding difficulties to climb upstairs for my classes, among other challenges.

These therefore calls upon the whole community to love, support and encourage the People with Disabilities (PWD’s). A distinction goes to our Director of Student’s Affairs (DOSA), Rev. Milton Tweheyo and the Disability Student’s Association patron, Rev. Henry Katumba, for the effort, love, compassion, guidance and encouragement they have rendered to the disabled students in the UCU community. Also special thanks goes to all my friends who have loved and cooperated with me while am at the university. For all what you have done, my humble prayer is that may God bless the works of your hands.

To sum it up, let’s join our hands together for a common goal of giving a chance to the Disabled children to excel in their academics as they also have a full potential of becoming important citizens in this Nation and the whole world at large.,
