What is the gospel?
Paul writes to the Galatians
“But Even if we or an angel from heaven from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached let him be accursed [Galatians 1;8]
To the Romans Paul says “I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is power of God for salvation to everyone who believes to Jew first and also to the Greek. [Romans 1:16]
To the Corinthians Paul says “Now I would remind you, brothers of the gospel I preached to you which you received: in which you stand and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you unless you believed in vain.
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with scriptures , that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures. [1 Corinthians 15:1-4] All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God [Roman 3:23]
Thus Christ came down died as the final and only perfect sacrifice for sin [Hebrews 10:12]. Sinners can never fully obey the law thus Christ lived under the law and obeyed it on our behalf [ Galatians 4:4, Mat 5:18] Thus we realise the law was a school master and obedience to the law of Moses that commanded for the offering of animal sacrifices for the remission of sins saves nobody [Galatians 3:24]
The sacrifice of Christ atones ONLY for the sins of those sinners called by the father, for no man can come to the father except the father draws him [John 6:44] This sinner called of the father believes, He neither believes with own power nor can He be saved on account of His good deeds [Ephesians 2:8-9], Those drawn of God can only get to God through Christ who says “No one can go to the father except through me”
All those called of the father who believe in Jesus Christ can never be lost because it is the will of God the Father that Christ can never lose any of those sheep that He has given to Christ [John 6:39]
The good news does not end with the death of Christ, we must remember Christ rose again conquered death[ 1 Peter 1:3] Proof that indeed that Christ was a genuine sacrifice that satisfied God’s justice.
The good news therefore isn’t about how one can become much wealthier in earthly matters. Paul warns Timothy “Perverse disputing of men with corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness from such withdraw yourself …. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows [1 Timothy 6:2-5]
